Ozu’s cinema
The release on DVD of some of Ozu’s works gives us an opportunity to revisit the working practice of the Japanese master.
Miyagawa "It was precisely on the problem of the position of the camera that I started my conversation with him when we decided to work together. He did not answer me very clearly. Sadao Yamanaka, to whom Ozu was very close before the war, also used a low angle position for the camera. Yamanaka defined this ‘the dog’s eye’ position."
