Interview with Addictive TV’s Graham Daniels

US magazine XLR8R this year described Addictive TV as “Light years beyond the gallery realm of masters like Bill Viola”, indeed never a group to easily categorise, the guys at Addictive TV have been innovators in countless ways. Filmwaves have had a keen eye on them for years, as they’ve continually crossed and pushed the boundaries of cinema and club culture, of visuals, music, short films and television. Addictive TV were behind projects like ITV1’s short-film showcase series The Short Show back in 1994 and are now behind the high profile visual-music event Optronica, which they organise with the British Film Institute. From being the first to put VJs on broadcast television to remixing movies for Hollywood studios, Addictive TV have quietly been pioneers in many ways. We caught up with them in their London studios.
