Cool Room
JW: Cool Room is a single projection piece that involves you performing in the gallery space. I recall that we were between shows; the gallery was empty apart from a ladder and a few packing cases. Our technician had a tape of music playing whilst he was clearing up the gallery for the next exhibition. Can you remember what you were thinking about when you started filming?

TS: I saw the gallery as a blank canvas, an opportunity to improvise something in front of camera. Curiously the work reflects the conceptual approach of my earlier films and gallery installations.
