KEN WILDER and ADAM KOSSOF Angles of Projection Much contemporary film and video installation takes place in the ubiquitous ‘black box’, a space so dark that the host architecture effectively disappears. Such spaces present a self-referential world, characterised by the transparency of medium typical of cinema. While the experience might be ‘spatial’, in the sense of a mobile viewer being ‘immersed’ within spectacles of sight and sound, there is a detachment from what Dan Graham refers to as ‘the immediate, present-time environment’. |
